Last week’s trending topics caused a lot of mixed emotions.
Technology
LolaTechie, BayanTel’s online viral marketing on their product BayanTel DSL made a lot of Filipino internet users add “her” up on various social networking websites. Most people who have added LolaTechie on Facebook were superpoked by now.
Windows 7 Prices was announced. The question of switching to Windows 7 still remains until the official Philippine pricing comes out.
Here’s our list of Trending Topics Week 3.
Technology
Most Filipino iPhone Users have updated to Apple iPhone OS 3.0 while some stayed with their current firmware the redsn0w (jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.0) came out. Some are also excited about the iPhone 3GS as well but users in the Philippines will still have to wait (if ever they plan to get it from Globe Telecoms). HTC Magic was announced last week where we got a little confused on who’s offering it. Apparently, Globe Telecoms is the first to offer it but Smart Communications will be offering it exclusively this July.
This week had been pretty exciting for technology, social networking and entertainment for Pinoys. To sum it up:
Apple WWDC ’09
Apple’s announcement of the new 13 inch Macbook Pro, iPhone 3GS (yes, there’s a new iPhone) and the iPhone OS 3.0 software update.
Multiply 4.0
The new version of Multiply which could be a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. A good thing because it has improved the way we track down new updates and a bad thing because the over-all user-interface design needs lots of improvements.
In the area of politics, it was Con-Ass that was a very hot topic in the blogosphere and in various social media sites like Twitter, Plurk, Facebook, among others.
The second hot topic would be the A(H1N1). It was because an exchange student in DLSU (it was reported to be a Japanese girl but in the La Sallian community, the girl was a Korean) was confirmed to have A(H1N1) which caused the bad joke AH1N1mo La Salle to be spread around more viral than the virus itself.
The next hot topic was the ANC Forum alongside with Sen. Lacon’s quitting the 2010 presidential race.
And hot tech topics would be Sims 3 (the game is already available at DataBlitz!) and Palm Pre (touch screen phone with a qwery keyboard).
For sports, just this weekend, the World 10-ball pool championship was held at SM’s The Block. French Open was a hot topic for Pinoy Tennis enthusiasts.
