Finally, me and Sha got to see and experience the Globe Tattoo 4G Tonino Lamborghini Broadband stick. With the USB dongle, you can get up to 10Mbps of speed if you are within the areas where HSPA+ is deployed.

In the launch, we also got to see the Globe Tattoo HSPA+’s brand ambassador. Marlon Stockinger is a Filipino race car driver and he is the first Filipino to win in a formula race in Europe.

The Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini Stick is available for at 2,199 pesos per month. You get up to 10Mbps speed if you’re in an HSPA+ site. If not, of course you will get lower speeds. Aside from the unlimited surfing, you may also send 200 SMS to Globe/TM subscribers per month. You also have the option to upgrade to a MyFi device. All you need to do is to add 50 pesos per month on top of your subscription.

Globe also announced that they’ll be offering the Samsung Galaxy S2 4G-enabled phone. This will be available bundled for free with the My SuperSurf Plan 3799 this coming June 27, 2011. The Samsung Galaxy S2 4G phones shall be shipped with an app called VMS (Video Message Service) which will be free for My SuperSurf Subscribers until July 31. VMS users may upload and share videos. They may also receive and watch videos using their Samsung Galaxy S2.

Red Mobile now offers a postpaid plan

Finally, Red Mobile now offers a postpaid plan. The 300-peso postpaid plan is inclusive of unlimited calls and texts (Red-to-Red) with free 300 text messages to other networks. This plan is officially available within GMA only.

Here’s the applicable rates:
Voice calls
Globe, Sun, Landline and Others – 6.50 pesos per minute
Smart, Talk n’ Text, Infinity – 2 pesos per minute

SMS
Globe, Sun, Landline and Others – 1 peso per message
Smart, Talk n’ Text, Infinity – 50cents per message

In order to apply for a postpaid line, go to the nearest Smart Wireless Center and just bring a valid ID.

HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa – Phones with dedicated Facebook buttons

HTC ChaCha

HTC has announced HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa in this year’s Mobile World Congress. It’s interesting to note that there’s a dedicated Facebook button on each of these phones. HTC ChaCha is a touch-screen phone with a physical QWERTY keyboard while the HTC Salsa is a touch-screen phone. Both of these phones run on Android with HTC Sense.

The HTC ChaCha has a 2.6″ touch-screen with a 480×320 resolution. It is powered by a 600 MHz processor. It has a ROM of 512 MB and a RAM of 512 MB. Memory is expandable through a microSD card slot which is SD 2.0 compatible. The HTC ChaCha has a 5MP rear camera (with autofocus and LED flash) and a VGA front camera for making/taking video calls. It has the following sensors: G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor. It also has a GPS antenna. Battery life is 7 hours talk time (WCDMA), 7.5 hours talk time (GSM) while the standby time is 660 hours (WCDMA), 430 hours (GSM). It has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and supports Bluetooth® 3.0.

HTC Salsa

The HTC Salsa has a 3.2″ touch-screen with a 320 x 480 resolution (same as the HTC ChaCha). It has also the same processor speed like the ChaCha. Basically, it has the same specs except that the Salsa does not have a physical QWERTY keyboard and its battery life is 7.9 hours talk time (WCDMA) and 9 hours talk time (GSM), standby time is 530 hours (WCDMA) and 445 hours (GSM). With HTC Salsa, you can browse the internet using 3G which you cannot do with HTC ChaCha.

Last August 10th, HTC officially launched Rhian Ramos as their official endorser for HTC Smart which was launched April 2010. The event was held at the Dolce Superclub in Quezon City.

HTC Smart is one of the simplest touch screen phones in the market today. All communications with friends/relatives are organized by conversation and not through applications. This means that you need not go to Facebook or Twitter to see their status updates. When you click on your contact in the HTC Smart phone, you’ll be able to see all the previous conversations, call logs, emails, Facebook and Twitter updates. The Samsung Galaxy S also has this feature, which makes everything personalized instead of depending on the individual applications. This phone also has what they call Friend Steam which integrates Facebook and Twitter. You will be able to see your friends updates in one application. Nokia C3, is just one of the latest mobile phones from Nokia that I saw in their store in Glorietta. Nokia C3 is an entry-level mobile phone with a full-QWERTY keyboard. For those who do not really need the 3G connection speeds but would still like to have internet access via EDGE or WiFi, this is a phone that you’re probably looking for.

Its price is PhP 7,290! Those who are thinking of buying a Nokia E63 and are looking for a cheaper mobile phone may want to consider the Nokia C3.

SmartCoach iPhone app: An App for Runners

Joining running events is one of the trends here in the Philippines. Runner’s World just released their iPhone app dubbed as SmartCoach. This iPhone app for runners creates a customized training guide depending on a race distance (i.e. 5km, marathon, etc.).

schedule long runs (day and duration) resulting to their customized plan

The customized plans generated from the app is based from work of Jack Daniels, PhD. According to Mashable, he co-published two equations that relate oxygen consumption to the speed and length of various running performances.
