PoliticalArena.com: socio-political networking site

PoliticalArena.com is the Philippines’ first socio-political networking site by JobsDB and 88DB in partnership with COMELEC. The website was launched last Thursday at Manila Peninsula. In the said event, an Anti-Smear Covenant was also signed by politicians who will run for the 2010 elections.

The website is a common platform to be used by the candidates (for now, they only focus on the Presidentiables) where each of their profiles are shown and how will they address the issues listed.

What I like about the site is that there’s a page for each candidate that has the same look and feel like the others. However, even if there is an anti-smear covenant campaign, I think that the site can still be used for word-war if it will not be heavily moderated.

There are still a lot of improvements for the said website. For instance, in the forum, it would be best to hide the email addresses of the users. Instead of showing the email addresses, just show the username. Email addresses are exposed to the public in the forums.

Display of the photos in the Photos page can still be improved. Taking out the black background (the main image container) would not hurt. :D

And I think that the Alexa Site Info widget is not needed to be displayed. A lot of social networking websites would not show that.
