Multiply, one of the popular social networking websites used by Filipinos, had already released the beta version of Multiply 4.0. How do you think about it? Here are the things that most people (including me) don’t like with Multiply 4.0.

1. Website with frames are so in the 90′s
Oh yes, the valley girl in me shows because using frames (even scrolling divs for the main content) in websites were so out. They previously have the floating icons (which I believe is better) and it worked because everything can be seen easily.Well, this isn’t only an issue on aesthetics. I am also thinking on the advertiser’s perspective. As you can see at the bottom of the photo, if an advertiser places an ad there, the Multiply user wouldn’t be able to see the full ad at once.
2. Drop Down Pages
I guess Multiply wanted to lessen the number of categories that is why they placed them on a drop down menu. Well, I appreciate that they made it like that because it gives Multiply user the chance to customize how they want their inbox to be. It’s like organizing your email in Yahoo or Gmail.

3. View Contacts Page: Fail
Though I have to commend that they made a new ‘view contacts’ page but again, it’s still framed (look at the screenshot above). As you can see, the font is too big. Well, I appreciate their effort of having a ticker box ‘favorite’ so that the Multiply user can easily see updates from his/her contact.
4. Plain Looking
Don’t get me wrong that I don’t like a clean looking website. Well I do like one, however with the bland colors used here it’s not going to get my attention.
5. Post and Invite Buttons
The ‘post’ button is one of the commonly used buttons so why is it at the very top left of the page? It couldn’t be seen easily.
4. Trying Hard to be Facebook
I know that Multiply is trying to cope with other social networking websites but trying hard to be Facebook is not good.
