Red Mobile – the prepaid-only mobile network

Red Mobile could be Sun Cellular’s serious competition with its 50-cent per minute voice calls (Red to Red) and with its 50-cent per minute video calls as well. However, the dfference is that it only works in a 3G handset which could cost you some big bucks if you’re planning to switch from Sun Cellular prepaid to Red Mobile prepaid.

The cheapest 3G phone that one could get is the LG-KU380. The regular price is said to be around 7,000 pesos from the first time that I’ve heard it and it could be lesser now.

The Rates:

Voice Calls
red mobile to red mobile – P 0.50 / min
red mobile to other networks – P 6.50 / min

Text Rates
red mobile to red mobile – P 0.50 / text
red mobile to other networks – P 1.00 / text

MMS
red mobile to red mobile – P 0.50 / MMS

Video Call
red mobile to red mobile – P 0.50 / min
red mobile to other networks – P 6.50 / min

Mobile Internet
WAP Browsing – P7.50 for every 15 mins

If you’re going to use it mainly for mobile internet, the rate is a bit pricey because Globe’s rate is 5 pesos for 15 minutes and Smart’s rate is 10 pesos for 15 minutes. And as for Sun Cellular, based from my billing statements, it charges per kb.

And if you would like to try this out, you could sign up here and have a SIM card delivered to you free of charge. :)
